Impressions
There is a clear dominance of Sauvignon blanc aromas in this wine, since we have 65% Sauvignon blanc and 35% Sémillon.Lime, grapefruit, green apple, spicy green pepper, grilled asparagus, fresh herbs, and strong minerals.25% of the oak is new, which contributes to the scent of white flowers and vanilla. It's like green spicy peppers that grow in gravel and are picked fresh and soaked in iced water. As of August 2023, the wine is concentrated and bright. Combined with oak aging of 10 months, the Semillon contributes depth and roundness. It has a flavorful finish that lasts a medium amount of time.
Background
Château Carbonnieux is one of the oldest and largest wine estates in the Bordeaux region.
Its history extends over almost 8 centuries and its vineyard over a hundred hectares. The vines cultivated in a sustainable and eco-responsible agriculture are devoted to exclusively producing red and dry white wines, both of which are qualified as Grands Crus Classés de Graves.
Château Carbonnieux white is a legendary wine. It is said that in the 18th century it was introduced to the Sultan of Constantinople’s palace because of its clarity and was called “mineral water from Carbonnieux”, thus defying the Islamic law.

Cellaring Advice
Drink now, or wait. High acidity and richness in flavors can develop this wine even better in 4 – 8 years.
